In the Waiting
When we feel weary, we just want Jesus to come quickly. We long for him to take us out of the situation, but that’s not what he promised. He said he would always be with us in Matthew 28:20. He also told us that we had no reason to fear because he has already overcome the world in John 16:33. You may have heard this before, but scripture related to fear is written in the Bible 365 times. There’s a verse to address our fears for each day of the year. So, whatever we face from each day forward, it has already been conquered. Jesus has overcome the world.
In the waiting, we must not be found “wanting”. We must ultimately depend on him, solely relying on him for our every need and trusting him because our every breath comes from him. Yes, even Christ is the source of our faith. We have all been given a measure of faith.
“For through the grace having been given to me, I say to everyone being among you, not to be high-minded above what it behooves you to think, but to think so as to be sober-minded, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” — Romans 12:3 Berean Literal Bible
In the waiting, may we be sober-minded and trust him as our source, not letting ourselves think too highly of ourselves or let our guard down, that the enemy may use our weaknesses and short-sighted ways as a weapon against us. Be vigilant while waiting so that you are also prepared for his return.
His birth was on time, and his second coming will be on time. As of this very moment, he is with us now. Emmanuel, God with us.
