A Love Story

A beautiful love story is found in John 4, of the scriptures.

A woman picked up her jar to draw from Jacob’s well. She would go during a time when there was no one else there because she didn’t want to hear the whispers of those who looked at her with such disgust and embarrassment. The day was as usual, while she went about her daily tasks. She kept busy so that she could ignore the deep thirst for wholeness and peace. She longed for the joy that could be. If only the love she searched was real.

As she came closer to the well, she noticed a man sitting near by. She dare not speak to him because she was a Samaritan and he was a Jew. A few minutes passed, as the man, Jesus, observed her drawing water from the well.

“Woman, give me a drink.”

As their conversation continued, she received the revelation of love itself. The Messiah was standing in front of her. He set her free with his words.

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. The water I give is living water and those who drink it will never thirst again. Springs of living water well up within and they will have eternal life”.

That day, her life changed because she drank living water. She experienced the love that gave her the wholeness she longed for in the the depths of her soul.

She knew…. “He didn’t come for the water. He came for me.”
