Who You Are
Today the Lord has put a message on my heart for you. One of the most important truths you can instill in yourself and others is truly knowing who you are in Christ. When we understand the depth of this, we understand our place or our position in Christ. We are seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6) and that comes with privileges. Your battles are just distractions and imposed fear from the enemy because Satan knows he is already defeated. Your focus is to continue trusting the Lord. The enemy is under your feet and your authority is in Christ.
When Satan fell from his position in glory, God removed all authority from him, and so there is nothing that Satan can do unless you open the door to him. When you know who you are in Christ, you understand the battle was won on the cross, and through the resurrection of Jesus, your inheritance and righteousness are through Christ.
Does God ever allow Satan to attack us? In Luke 22:31–32. Jesus says, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Clearly, in this case, Satan had asked God’s permission to test Peter and the other disciples. Jesus tells Peter that He has prayed specifically for him so that Peter’s faith would not fail and so that Peter can strengthen the other disciples when the test is over. The implication is that Peter and the rest would be sifted in whatever way Satan intended. While all of this is happening Jesus intercedes for us also in battle. So God allowed the harassing of His disciples, within limits, but He had a higher purpose in mind—the strengthening of them all.
Scripture says, “Resist the devil and he will flee”. Jesus used the Word of God to keep the enemy in his place and remind him that he had no authority. The Word of God is your sword and that’s all you need to take him down. When you face trials, and you need to go to battle, remember that the victory has already been won on the cross and remain steadfast in your faith.
